Speak English with Jo's privacy policy is simple:

Your privacy is really important to us. We will always treat the information you share with us with great care. We will never share your personal data with anyone else, ever.

This includes any information you share with us on our website, via email or in an online lesson.

What personal data do we collect?

This includes name, email, native language, billing address and Skype address. We also use cookies on our website. For more information see the Cookies Policy.

How do we collect your personal data?

When you book a lesson through our website we store your name and email.  When you make a booking we may ask for further information via email.  We use Stripe for secure online payments and do not store your card details. Teachers take notes on your conversation, based on information you provide during the video lessons.  This information includes, (but is not limited to) your language level and ability, learning preferences, your progress and interests.  We may retain any such information and associate it with your personally identifiable information.  This information will only be available to the teacher with whom you interact.  We will use this information to plan future lessons for you and to ensure we are following a personalised teaching plan.

How do we use your personal data?

We need your contact details to communicate with you before and after a lesson has taken place. It is important that we are able to send you booking confirmations and notifications. We would also like to keep you informed about future courses or events which may be of interest you.  Any questions that we ask you are for the sole purpose of delivering the best quality service to you as a language learner. We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you. We collect it by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent. We also let you know why we’re collecting it and how it will be used. All lessons are planned based on your personal needs and objectives.

We only retain collected information for as long as necessary to provide you with your requested service. What data we store, we’ll protect within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorised access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.

We don’t share any personally identifying information publicly or with third-parties, except when required to by law.

Our website may link to external sites that are not operated by us. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and practices of these sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy policies. Please refer to the Google Privacy Policy.

What are your rights in relation to your personal data?

You are free to refuse our request for your personal information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired services. For full information about your rights see the Information Commissioner's Office. When we receive a request to amend or delete your personal data we will respond immediately.  We recognise how important this is to you.
